As an avid reader, I often loose myself in stories about other cultures and far off lands. So pleased to start this book club, it is something we circulated a questionnaire and had an incredible response of interested participants.
The first meeting held in August had a great turn out full of diverse participants and a spread of ages of people who had read that month's book "This Child will be Great", by Ellen Sirleaf Johnson. The memoir was political in nature and explored many difficult pan-African issues. Discussing torture, crimes against humanity with a room full of strangers is never easy but the night proved that there was a group of people who wanted to educate themselves and discuss international themes through literature. A tribe was founded!
