BlossomCLE Who?

April 4, 2017

BlossomCLE, LLC created by Samantha A. Peddicord in July of 2016 to allow for the flexibility and dedication to work on projects in the Cleveland community. The Ohio native first came to Cleveland to attend graduate school at John Carroll University. There she obtained a Masters in Humanities with a specialization on International Relations. Samantha is most passionate about helping those in need in the international community and working with the newcomer population in Cleveland, OH. Much her professional experience has allowed her to serve the local refugee community which she began working with shortly after graduating from the University of Akron. Years later she would spend a month in 2015 doing research in IOM/UNHCR camps in Nepal to write her Master’s Thesis on Bhutanese refugee resettlement. After gaining a better understanding of the preparation refugees receive in their home country, she came back to focus on how we can better support newcomers after their resettlement to Northeast Ohio. Much of this work is done through public policy, awareness and cultural trainings and ensuring equal access for the refugee community at the local level.

While working for the Cleveland City Council she helped co-found the State of Ohio’s, first refugee centric neighborhood and the City of Cleveland’s Limited English Proficiency Policy to help ensure equal access for all newcomers. As part of her advocacy work for the City, she authored a Council Resolution to support local Syrian refugee resettlement and worked to create a “safe city” for undocumented residents. Her experience working in the private, public and nonprofit sectors has taught her how to effectively navigate the system and advocate for positive change.

She has served on several committees of the Refugee Services Collaborative, as a mentor for several schools and organizations and as the board Secretary of Global Ambassadors Language Academy (GALA).

Samantha is multilingual and has lived in three countries. Her passion for internationalism and languages has taken her all of the world.
